I am my favorite subject because…people.

I really like photography. My photo archive is full of at least 3 pictures of each thing I have ever taken a photo of since the invention of the digital camera. You add all that up and I am pretty sure it 100% qualifies me as a really high-end professional photographer. My triplicates are stunning. Every. Single. One. Blurry and random? Sure. Breathtaking? Absolutely! Full of creativity and interesting angles. 4 shure.

All jokes aside, I really do like taking pictures. And I like taking pictures of people in artsy ways. But taking pictures of people in artsy ways usually involves…interaction.

::cringe::

I just want to get the photos and pretend the person is just an object. I want to bend them, move them, place them…and have them not move or say no. All without speaking.

They are a person, though. And like all people they have thoughts and feelings and opinions and limits. But I don’t like that. It crushes me creatively. I can’t work with that. I don’t want the person in the body to be there.

I don’t want to talk. I want to get the shots. I don’t want awkward memories of the interaction. I don’t want to scale back what I was wanting to do. I want to get 17 shots of the wrong position so that it finally leads to the 2 or 3 good shots I’m going to get.

I need to be in your face. Don’t talk to me. I want to put you in weird positions because trust me the shot is going to be awesome. Don’t object. Don’t move.

Get the shots and get gone.

But that’s weird and nobody likes that.

But I’m cool with it, so….

I end up just take photos of myself. The way I want them. Without having to get awkward or weird with another human being. And it’s fun. And I like it. Who cares.
